Please scroll down and check out our Sponsors and Thanks in our Links section to the right. Take the time to visit our sponsors in person or visit their website and send them an email.
Let them know how much you appreciate them for sponsoring these Honeydripper events in Huntsville. I know we sure do!
There will very likely be tickets released at the door on the night of the premiere, so come on down if you want to try to get in. Also, don’t forget that this wonderful movie will run ALL DAY FRIDAY AND SATURDAY and have a regular run for one to two weeks, and tickets for those shows are available at Hollywood 18 and Madison Square 12. All of you who have premiere tickets, please try to arrive on time so that we can do a seat count and try to fill any empty seats. Thanks so much everyone for your wonderful response!
In honor of Black History Month, Comcast is donating its television time to air ads about Honeydripper. Comcast, Inc., www.comcast.com, is the nation’s leading provider of entertainment, information, and communications products and services with over 24.2 million cable customers, 12.9 million high-speed internet customers, and 4.1 million voice customers. Huntsville’s Comcast office provides a great example of a large corporation reaching out to enrich life on a local level. Thank you, Comcast, for giving us coverage of Honeydripper through the vital medium of television.
Tickets are available TWO WAYS. One is online at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/27043 and please use the Will Call option. A neat feature on this is that you may purchase tickets in someone else’s name- as many different names as you’d like. This comes in handy if you’re giving as a gift or having someone show up ahead of time to save a seat.
The second ticket purchase option is purchase at a LOCAL business in Huntsville at STEARNS’ COFFEE at 2113 Whitesburg Drive in Huntsville (the former “Seattle South” locale.) While you are there, try one of their delicious coffees, teas, or pastries, and enjoy the convivial atmosphere. Stearns “gives back to the community” by supporting a different charity each month. They also have a free “movie night” once a week!
Special thanks to owners Daniel and Marisa Stearns for supporting this event and for the use of their shop! It’s been our HQ’s Central.
We now have the schedule for Microwave Dave’s “Talking the Blues” show that features an interview with John Sayles and selections from the Honeydripper soundtrack. It will be aired:
Saturday, February 2nd at 8pm on WLRH FM 89.3 www.wlrh.org
Tuesday, February 5th at 6pm on WJAB 90.9 www.aamu.edu/WJAB/
The interview is primarily about the music in Honeydripper, and Dave plays most selections in their entirely. Featured artists include Keb’ Mo’, Lil Green, the New Beginnings Ministry, the Aces of Spade, Dr. Mabel John, Barrence Whitfield, Gary Clark, Jr. and Ruth Brown in one of her final recordings. John Sayles discusses the songwriting, music preparation, recording, and research that make up Honeydripper’s soundtrack and storyline. This will be a great show, so don’t miss it!
Send this out to all your friends and acquaintances!
Tickets to the Honeydripper Premiere are now for sale! John Sayles and Maggie Renzi, along with several other cast and crew members, will be at the premiere. And don’t forget that your $20 entry includes an after-party at Flying Monkey Arts, featuring Microwave Dave and the Nukes along with Henderson Huggins and Eddie Shaw, fabulous blues musicians who were in Honeydripper. You can buy your tickets from Brown Paper Tickets, a “fair trade” ticket selling organization that charges a minimal fee. Here is the website: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/27043. These tickets won’t last long, so act fast!
The Master Class and the Blues Party for Premiere ticket holders will both be held at the Flying Monkey Arts Center.
